THE EAGLE CRIED
Her heart grasps for a reason,
rendering tears she cannot hide.
Her twin nests knocked down to the ground,
while her children were inside
With generous heart and loyal ways,
she finds it hard to understand,
a terrible attack on her children,
residing in their own land.
Her broken heart will mend, in time,
less time will take her shield.
Justice will prevail for her,
for that she does not yield.
Spirit wrapped in justice,
she will spread her mighty wings,
soar high above her sacred land,
where love and freedom rings.
With threat upon the nation,
where her children lived and died,
our beloved eagle raised her head
in sorrow....and she cried.
